Description
Begonia Double Red bulbs are a stunning addition to the garden. They are a beautiful rich red double head on green stems. Like all Begonias they prefer a well drained soil in a part shaded area as opposed to a full sun position. They would look simply stunning in a border with similar colours or even patio containers. They are a fairly low flower, but their heads can measure up to 15cm across. Plant the bulbs from February onwards hollow side up, in the greenhouse in shallow trays. As soon as the shoots appear, they can be transferred into bigger pots. They will appreciate a good compost and bonemeal mix. As soon as any frost risk has passed they can go out into the garden. Once established and flowering, they will require a feed every couple of weeks and deadhead the dying flowers. Begonia Double Red bulbs will much prefer a moist bed, and through dry periods will need watering sometimes twice a day if necessary.
When handling bulbs, wearing gloves is advisable as they can be a skin irritant and harmful if eaten.
