Description
Autumn cover cropping has been proven to protect soils at risk of nutrient loss during the winter. Usually fields in arable rotations are left bare during the winter months until the spring. It is during this period that through heavy winter rainfall many key nutrients are lost into the water coarse. Using an autumn cover crop mixture helps cover and protect the soil. Autumn cover crop mixtures containing more than two species offer the best results as they allow for varied rooting. Differing rooting depths aid in nutrient recovery and soil erosion.
