Description
Hyacinth Bedding Bulbs are both beautiful and very fragrant making them perfect for large garden plantings. Also suitable for use individually in pots and planters with other spring bulbs. Scatter planting is advisable to allow the true beauty of the mixture to come forth. Hyacinth bedding mixtures have been used historically to add interest and depth to gardens large and small. Their stout stems allow them to stand erect even in open ground. However for best results it is best to plant hyacinths in groups of at least six or more in open to lightly sheltered areas. This will allow the flowering head to establish without fear of it becoming damaged as one might if planted alone and exposed. Free draining soil is preferred but they are fairly content wherever they are planted. Hyacinths make great cut flowers, and are also able to grow indoors in the right conditions.
When handling bulbs, wearing gloves is advisable as they can be a skin irritant and harmful if eaten.
Hyacinth bedding mixtures look splendid planted alongside other spring classics such as tulips and daffodils . Create a show of colour and fragrant smelling garden.
