Oriental & Pot Lily Bulbs are magnificent flowers that will bring something quite spectacular to your summer garden. Fairly easy to grow, they are available in a variety of colours and styles. Most Oriental Lilies grow from August onwards. They have tall thick stems and bear a minimum of 6 petals to each head. Oriental & Pot Lilies are extremely popular with florists and can grow up to six feet ! The bulbs cannot tolerate soil that is too wet. Free draining soil, and a sunny position will be perfect. When planting out, wait until the risk of frost has passed. Cover with a good mulch over winter and come spring uncover as soon as there is sign of life. Once the flowers have died, cut off the stalk and leave the foliage to die naturally. This allows the plant to re-energise ready for the next season. It will be beneficial to fertilise once or twice a year. Some experts also use bone meal when planting out. This isn’t necessary, but certainly wont do any harm.
